Hi I saw some information on social website https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nextdoor" target="_blank">Nextdoor about a charity initiative to increase neighbourliness and perhaps appear on TV! Sounded like the kind of scheme Six Streets should support... So if you think your street would be up for it, then we can help you.
Ideally a small group of people from same Street will run with this.
The charity Hubbub www.hubbub.org.uk is searching for one street in the UK to take part in a pioneering project called ‘The Street that Shares’.
The ambition is to help households in the street save money, declutter their homes and build stronger connections with their neighbours. The street will be provided with support, equipment and funding to help neighbours share tools, skills, surplus food and transport with the intention of cutting bills and building community spirit..
Neighbours on the street will use Nextdoor to help coordinate their efforts.
Results from the street will be shared with other communities, including through Nextdoor, encouraging them to replicate the best bits and avoid some of the pitfalls. There is a strong possibility that the street will be featured in a documentary on national TV.
Hubbub is looking for one street with people from a mixture of backgrounds, where there is some communal space to place things like a community shed and there is some existing community activity.
