14 House Break Ins

Posted by diana b on May 18, 2017 at 10:30 AM Comments comments (0)

In the last three weeks there have been 14 break-ins to houses in an area leading out of the city through Darley Abbey towards Allestree that is bordered by Duffield Road and Kedleston Road.

8 of these offences have happened in the day where the offenders have smashed rear conservatory, patio or french doors and stolen cash and jewellery. The other 6 offences have happened overnight where entry seems to have been gained through insecure doors or windows.

The advice to householders is:

• To keep all doors and windows secure and to keep keys in a drawer rather than left in the door or window.

• To put all valuable items out of sight, tablets, phones, games consoles in drawers or out of view.

• Record all serial numbers on immobilise.com and make use of property marking devices (smart water/marking pens).

• Photograph all unique jewellery. This can be recorded on immobilise.com too.

• Ensure that burglar alarms are activated when leaving the address and at night. Make use of security lighting if it is present.

• Keep an eye out on neighbours properties and report any suspicious activity to Police immediately.

To report anything suspicious contact us on 101 or if it is a crime in progress call 999.

Police askling for witnesses

Posted by diana b on May 16, 2017 at 5:45 AM Comments comments (0)

At around 7.35pm on Sunday, April 30, a 14-year- old boy was approached by a man who threatened him and stole his bike, which the youngster had spent a long time saving for.

The robber rode off through the Allestree entrance to the park.

A 26-year- old man has been arrested and released under investigation while inquiries continue. The bike has been recovered but is damaged beyond repair.

Any witnesses, or anyone with dashboard camera footage who may have been passing the park at the time, is asked to call the police. Officers also want to speak to anyone who lives near the park who may have CCTV cameras at their property.

Witnesses or anyone with information should call DC Tina Green on 101, quoting reference 17000179736.

Alternatively, send her a message online by visiting the Contact Us section of our website www.derbyshire.police.uk/Contact-Us

You can also call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Waste to Power Test Plant

Posted by diana b on May 8, 2017 at 10:20 AM Comments comments (0)

I received a leaflet expressing concerns about experimental incinerator equipment including a 20m chimney that is being planned for Alfreton Rd. Lorries would deliver household waste to be burnt at high temperatures to produce power.

Incinerators are controversial in this country with a bad history of air pollutants. Other countries including Switerland and Sweden have developed the technology and have many plants producing energy from waste.

Concerns include any emissions from the chimney - especially whether dioxins are produced and if so at what levels and which areas would be affected. There are schools around this area of Derby as well as workplaces and housing. The leaflet says that emissions will only be tested twice a year.

The temporary planning permission - ref 10/16/01241 - is for continous running of the plant Mon to Fridays for 12 months. Full details are on the council planning website https://eplanning.derby.gov.uk/online-applications/" target="_blank">eplanning.derby.gov.uk/online-applications/

Objections have to be received by 10th May

You can contact city councillors by email

A girl (think called Betsy wh ois in Foundation class??) and her little brother were there with Mum and Uncle and the little boy left his truck behind. Mum might be called Becky but definitely lives this side of Kedleston Rd.

If you know them, please ask them to email [email protected] and I can drop the toy truck back to them

Cars "keyed"

Posted by diana b on April 25, 2017 at 1:50 PM Comments comments (0)

Many cars on Park Grove - seems to be near White St end - were damaged with pretty deep scratches in the paintowrk and one driver's seat has what looks like a knife slash in it.

Some owners have reported the damage to the police who are keen to know if anyone else has been affected. So please ring 101 to report if your car was damaged.

Also if you saw anything odd on Sunday night, please get in touch.

Easter First!

Posted by diana b on April 16, 2017 at 10:25 AM Comments comments (0)

As the shops have been known to run out of Easter eggs, we buy in advance guessing at numbers ... and this year we over-bought!  So after this morning's Easter Event, the excess eggs were donated to the Children's Hospital.

I was very surprised at how quickly this message arrived in the Six Streets email inbox:

On behalf of all the staff and children at the Derbyshire Children Hospital I would like to say a huge THANK YOU for your very kind donation.

Your donation of chocolate Easter eggs really does make a massive difference to all the children and young people who sadly have to spend their Easter holidays in our hospital.

Many thanks

Cars broken into. Sunday 16 April 04:45

Posted by Michele on April 16, 2017 at 12:45 AM Comments comments (2)

On his way home from work at 04:45 this morning, my son, Arran, noticed the boots and passenger doors open on 3 cars on Wheeldon Avenue. He phoned the police, gave registration details and a description of the scene (boots open, contents disturbed, some items on the road, glove compartments open, contents in footwell, etc).

On police instruction, we closed car doors and boots. We left a note on the cars as it's highly likely the owner will get to the car before the police do!

Arran had a quick check along Park Grove and down Statham and Bromley Streets which seemed clear. If when you get into your car, you find it unlocked, check the car over. If you feel your car has been tampered with, call the police on 101. When this happened to us last year, it took us a while to realise!
