Officers are appealing for information, and urging people to fully secure their homes, after an elderly lady was assaulted by a burglar in Mackworth.

The resident of Greenland Avenue only briefly exited her home to collect bins between 2.15pm and 2.30pm on Tuesday, August 15, but it was ample time for a man to gain entry via the unsecured side door.

Upon walking upstairs, the lady was confronted by the man who demanded money from her several times.

White Cat

If you have a white cat and s/he doesn't come home, then it could be the cat that was run over near Wheeldon Ave/ Parkfields Drive. Unfortunately, it died instantly -just now about 12.40, Sunday lunchtime.

The driver is trying to trace the owner by knocking on doors and will send in a photo if he doesn't track owners down.

He did say about ringing the council but as it is a Sunday, doubt they would be there soon and the owners may prefer to take their cat home themselves.
